Most of the time they are made with way too much sugar, as most of us have noted.

If I had a proper porch, I think I would drink them more.

Closest I ever came was listening to Chet Atkins rendition of "One Mint Julep."

Still a native Tennessean and very partial to George Dickle but, the best mint julep I have ever tasted was in Lexington, KY. Thes restaurant is the Julep Cup, home of the Seahorse Bar. A great breakfast/brunch and "killer" mint juleps.

It is properly served in a julep cup over crushed ice. I think mine was "super sized"! The prime rib was excellent too!

Yes, I know that G.D. Is whisky and not bourbon. Cheers!

Not a particular fan of any of the ingredients. I despise mint as an ingredient in anything that is to be consumed by mouth. I see no point in me the tasting a mix of all that.

Southerner? Yes. Mint Julep? Many times. Probably not my favorite cocktail, but if I am in locale where they are favored, I will have one.
