Amazing!

My 19 year-old nephew wants to renounce his American citizenship!!! Always weird and anti-social, he says God is going to judge America as evil, and that America will be on the wrong side at Armageddon. He no longer wants to be a part of such an "evil" country.

Sadly, he is from a good family . . . but this nut job is too much. He showed up at our house a couple of weeks ago like a bad dream . . . and the sheriff's department told him they wanted him out of the county that day. Two choices . . . they'd drop him off at the county line or I could drop him off at the bus station.

Instead, I found out where he wanted to go next . . . which was about 140 miles away at a Catholic Monastery . . . and I drove his sorry a___ up there just to make sure he was long gone from here. Money is also "evil" to him . . . and he only had five dollars in his pocket. Sadly, my wife took pity and gave him $100 of our own "evil" money . . . and he surely didn't mind taking it.

Since then, his daddy has driven him to a Christian commune in another part of the state where he can "try" that place out next . . . since that monastery didn't work out for him either.

I'm sure he'll not last at the commune very long either . . . for EVERYONE is "evil" to this fella. He believes thieves should have their hands cut off . . . but he's not above stealing from "evil" stores to support his "holy" life either . . . since the owners of stores are "evil."

On the way to the monastery, he started babbling about how it is amazing that many more American's don't take $150,000.00 loans out from the banks and then skip the country. "You can live a long time in a foreign country on $150,000 he said. AMAZING!

One sick puppy indeed!

I have unfortunatly known a couple of idiots like this in my life. Fortunatly only one family member, the other was a female and a local "loser / user". This guy is probably going to end back on your front porch again. He probably won't disapear until some stranger (or a local lawman) he smarts off to gives him a very major "tune up". Keep your eyes open, and your doors locked, if nobody gives him $$ outright, he might want to take it himself. Like my now dead cousin, they will steal from their family with a smile on thier face.

Every family has at least one, Tom. Most just dont admit to it. My dad had a saying that there is a skelton in every closet.

Probably some sort of undiagnosed mental illness is at work. That's around the age that schizophrenia first manifests in a major way for some folks. There are medications for such things. Not sure what sort of place still has the authorities running people out of the county. That's odd.

Anyway, if he can learn French, and has any skills, there's always the Foreign Legion.

Well, hopefully he'll come back to his senses before he messes up his life too much.

This was me at 18:

Years ago I had a nephew show up on my doorstep like that on christmas eve. He had just got threw out of the army, his dad had just died, my sister had thrown him out as she couldnt handel him. He had just went by another uncle who threw him out and had put him on the bus to me! A short while later I was kind of giveing him a "Dutch uncle" talk at the supper table. He started shakeing, picked up a steak knife and informed me he was the baddest MFer in the world with a knife! I had my wife and 4 year old daughter at the table. It seemed like slow motion to me, but the wife said later that was the fastest she ever seen me move. A secound later I had knocked him too the floor, and he wasnt so bad, but screaming like a baby! I now wasnt fighting him, but actualy fighting myself to keep from killing him! It was a weird feeling I had only had a couple of times in my life!
Anyway, the next day I took him to a physciatrist. He talked to him for awhile, came back to me and said, yup, he`s crazy! No fooling, IN THOSE EXACT WORDS!
It turned out he is physco skitziphrinic. My wife jumped through the hoops with him and got him on the system. My sister, a scientologist, got mad as she doesnt belive in physciatrists, came and got him, (scientologists are against physchiatists,), and took him off the meds and he ended up in the mental hospital. I ended up with him handeling his affairs for a number of years. Today he is useless, but a nice about 45 year old. Funny, I hadnt heard from him in close to a year untill yesterday when he called for just a chat. He handles his own finances---poorley, but copes and leads a simple miserable life, but gets by.

GATORFARMER "That's around the age that schizophrenia first manifests in a major way for some folks."

Yep, a lot of folks have their first psychotic break around that time. Trouble is now days it is hard to keep them on meds if they don't want them.

Good luck--there is a fine line between helping an enabling but it sounds like you are doing OK so far.

Sounds to me like he has some very serious mental issues. Hopefully, these issues won't manifest themselves into hurting someone or some people.

Interesting . . . although I do kinda agree with him that God is likely to judge America as evil at some point, he has already put up with more crap from America than he did Sodom before he destroyed it.

I'm just wondering if he is wanting to give up his citizenship because this country is so evil where is this other country that is so great that he will go to?

God loves America-we put his name on all of our money

Religion and the anti-America diatribe are just window dressing. My guess is schitzophrenia. They sooner he gets access to medication and counseling, the less hold it will take on him.

Tough situation.

Tell him to enlist and see the world.

I'd been to many countries in my 5 years of active duty. You couldn't get me to give up U.S. citizenship for any of them! Every time I would step back on American soil, my throat would be raw for two days... why? Screaming like crazy with my buddies because we were so glad to be in the U.S.

During my last deployment to "Iraqistan" I was involved in an "incident" that landed me in the hospital in Germany for a few months. Nothing too serious compared to many of the other guys there. (I can't get into the details, and I hate that because I don't want to sound like an internet ninja when I say I can't get into details!) I was discharged for this, but just got cleared for re-enlistment a few weeks ago. Anyway.. Germany is fine and everything (Iraqistan.. not so much), but you know what I did as soon as I got off the plane in the U.S.?

Maybe five steps away plane.. I fell to my knees and kissed the ground. Having seen other countries, and the people who live there.. and being away from the United States for so long without being able to return.... I thought I knew how blessed we were to be U.S. citizens before all this... I had a new appreciation that has stuck with me since.

Anyway..... I'm rambling. If he doesn't like the U.S., Canada or Mexico are just to the North or South if he'd prefer.

I agree with everyone who suspect an early stage mental illness. Getting him help even if he were willing to cooperate will probably be a challenge but is worth pursuing. In my family it took a crisis to finally get one of my brothers into treatment that worked . My thoughts are with you.

Ive got a good handful of losers in my family that speak the same way. I wish theyd all move FAR FAR FARRRR away. Like someone already said, theres one in every bunch .

The only mental illness he has is being 19. Blue hair, piercings, foul mouth and other undesirable behavior is to be expected. He'll grow out of it and become one of "us" sooner or later. That is if family doesn't reject him, put him on meds or give him the "act like we say or else" therapy. Joe

He needs help and a lot of it. Hopefully he will make it. My prayers are with him.
