Maybe this quote has been pointed out in one of the other threads. If so, I apologize, but I haven't seen it yet.

Isn't this predictable?

Mixon's uncle, 38-year-old Curtis Mixon of Fremont, said his nephew had become depressed because as a convicted felon he could not find work. His nephew expected authorities to issue an arrest warrant for missing parole meetings, even though the he felt he was not to blame, he said.
"I think his frustration was building up, but he was trying to better himself," Curtis Mixon said. LaTasha Mixon said Sunday her cousin was "not a monster."

If he had been electrocuted or gassed after his conviction for assault and armed robbery, this tragedy would have been avoided.

"And he was just turning his life around"...yeah, riiiiight.

Perhaps if mom and/or dad had done their job, Junior wouldn't end up in the slammer or on a slab in the morgue..
JMHO & YMMV

Three officers were killed Saturday during separate confrontations with a 26-year-old parolee who relatives said feared returning to jail.

Huh. If I feared returning to jail, I think I would have made an effort to show up at my parole meetings. Oh, and I wouldn't have shot any police officers. That one right there will get you back in jail (or dead) real fast.

So in conclusion, he really did get his 15 minutes of fame. And he has bettered himself. He's now a corpse, which is much better for society than had he remained a living piece of crap. And no, he's not a monster. At least now. Now he's a good monster, a dead one.

even though the he felt he was not to blame
Why should he feel that he was to blame for anything?

Just last night on cable TV commercial, I was told that if I was not paying my bills... "It wasn't my fault".

Only a a few minutes later, I was told that "If I was overweight... I'm not to blame".

And this morning the news tells me that AIG is an outrage... It must be their fault that he's dead.

If the cops had only gone after the AIG execs instead of poor Lovell... LaTasha was right.

....he took out four innocents instead of taking his medicine like a man....what better definition of a monster....good riddance....

....it's hard to argue with that logic....

So,
He was "afraid" of going back to the joint and getting what, killed?
So there's a less timely as well as better outcome, by opening fire on cops?
OK, Got it!
(Sound of Cuckoo clock repeatedly chiming)

Seems to me that a convicted felon trying to make a clean start would keep parole appointments and stay away from prohibited items like firearms to avoid being violated and sent back to Bubba's loving embrace.

I for one am sick to death of hearing family and friends make excuses for their POS family member's actions. Some people are just a-holes. Denying it or making excuses doesn't change that fact.

If I were related to that imbecile, I'd just keep my mouth shut and maintain a low profile.

What we lack today is shame for things you should be ashamed of, and the common sense to realize that some things can't be excused, much less justified.

Mixon was a victim only of his own stupidity and sense of entitlement.

It really shows you where “these people” are at though doesn’t it?

There are apparently no easy answers. Sometimes I fantasize about abandoning “these people” to them selves. Let them pay for their own government, health care, criminal justice system, food stamps, and other myriad government assistance programs. Oh that’s right, they can’t and wont. Instead good and noble men go in harms way for these animals, trying to protect them, from them!

It seems it’s really not just about poverty and lack of opportunity anymore. The rift is now a chasm. There is a whole culture of people that see a criminal lifestyle as a way of life.

I just wish that there were some way the thinking Public could "school" this monsters family. Because he was a monster.

1) He was a Felon who served time for shooting an unarmed person during an armed robbery. That is a pretty monstrous act to me and also to most law abiding citizens.

2) He was NOT trying to straighten his life out. A) he wasn't reporting to his parole officer, If he was really trying to go straight, he would not have missed one single parole appointment even if he had to be wheeled in on a stretcher. B) He had a gun. So he was not only ignoring the parole system, he was also ignoring the Law. Not only that, the fact that he managed to kill 4 police officers who were most likely wearing BP vests, means that he was shooting for the head. Which requires a certain indifference to life and a fairly high level of proficiency. Which means he was not only a Felon with a gun, he was a Felon who was actively practicing with that gun. That isn't the actions of someone trying to "turn his life around". C) he was carrying concealed in a state, and county, where posessing a permit to do so is almost unheard of.

Sum it all up and you have an ill bred, ill parented monster who should have been shot down like a dog years ago. Frankly, I think that we should bring back the old "Wanted, Dead or Alive" posters for monsters like this.

"Right or wrong, they're still family and I love them..."

If I had a dollar every time I've heard this from my OWN family I'd be rich.

Got one nephew: 3 time child molester. He's pretending to be queer and all the convictions were "misunderstandings". Wife and I had a 9 round screaming match over why he will NOT be invited into my house for Easter. He shows up, he's getting arrested. Anyone who doesn't like that can leave, too.

Other Nephew: 17 year old thug and pot smoker. Shot his cousin in the throat with a BB gun, beat up his mom and pregnant stepmom. Currently in lockdown after running away from foster home. No worries about him being at Easter.

Some people are evil. Evil people have families. Doesn't make them less evil.

Our courts keep "rehabilitating" these folks and then turning them loose from their cage periodically until they can be caught AND convicted again.

It is a tragedy that he was deemed "worthy" of parole.

A much bigger tragedy? Prisons all over America have tens of thousands just like him . . . all chomping at the bit to get out again and return to the streets . . . and most will eventually be freed too.

This morning Channel 5 in Oakland (website) is reporting the killed suspect has been IDd by DNA as the perp in a rape the day before the shootings. The rape itself occurred in Feb. of this year. Also he is the main suspect in an unsolved murder from 2007.
I guess some would call that trying to turn you life around, huh? What a poor, misunderstood boy.
