Gander Mountain in Ocala had a Model 28, four-inch barrel for sale this afternoon when I visited. Condition, looking through the glass case, appears to be NRA good or there abouts. I did not get the opportunity to check the mechanicals. Hardly a safe queen but at at $249.00 it may be worth considering. I already have a Model 27 four-inch or it probably would have gone home with me.

All the Best,

Bill

I bet at least two members from this board will be at the front doors when the store opens this morning. A great price for a used M-28 unless its been dragged behind a truck or had a big hole drilled in the side like that model 29 from a couple of months ago. I already have two 4" Model 28, but would have to figure out a way to take home a third at that price. BTW, what ever happened to that Model 29 with the big drill hole, anybody buy it even for parts?

Hi Peter J,

It would be nice to see it fall into the RIGHT hands.

I am not aware of the Model 29 with the hole. Did the hole seem to serve a purpose?

Somebody drilled a big ugly hole into the frame of a Model 29, right behind the trigger under the S&W logo. I think it was found for sale at a pawn shop. Pictures were posted here on the forums. The general agreement from people here was the hole was probably drilled for some kind a skeleton stock for a hanicapped shooter. The 29 most likely still worked, but pretty much screwed up the gun for anything but keeping in the glove compartment or under the front seat of a pick-up truck.
