In my travels today I stopped in at The Firing Line in Aurora, CO. They have a 3" 13-4, unfired with original box (didn't look inside to see what all was included), priced at $599.

I have absolutely no interest in this item, if I had the $ I probably would've grabbed it as I haven't seen one like this since they were made.

Passing it on if anyone is interested.

Here's one I picked up last month, I added the grips...

A 3" M13. My favorite S&W.
They shoot, they carry, they point and they look.

The problem for me is that it actually looks too nice to shoot. I'm not a collector and just couldn't bring myself to dropping that much coin on it, then taking it out and running ammo through it.

When I wrote I had no interest in it I mean that as I have no financial stake in it, don't own it, etc., just passing the info on in case someone here was looking for something like this to add to their collection.

Happy Trails.

I saw one last month, which was the first one I've seen in many, many years. This one had no box or papers, approx. 80% finish remaining, and had been modified by grinding off the hammer spur and the SA function had been removed as well. The seller was asking $375.00 for it, which in my opinion was just a bit high for it. He chased me down a few minutes later and offered it to me at $350.00 OTD. Very tempting, but I had to pass. The Model 13/65 in 3" barrel configuration is extremely desirable, and in my opinion, about as good as it gets in the short barreled, K frame world.

Regards,

Dave

That 3" 13 you saw last year

I must have walked in not long after you & took that home with me... I carried one on on duty years ago & sold it when the Chief approved 1911's & always regretted it. It still looks new but I've put a few rounds thru it in the last year. Still get to feeling guilty about $599 for a 13 but it was a weak moment and I had the bucks that day. Not the first time I've lost my mind over S&W's & probably won't be the last.... Still looking for a 4" 27, 28, 57 or 58 in Colorado.

Regards,

At least somebody who appreciates it DID buy it. Congrats dingdong257 and welcome despite your crazy internet handle:)

My Mod 13-2 3" with Spegel grips is the combat revolver I would go to first if needed. It has by far the best DA trigger of all my S&Ws. As far as I can tell it never had a trigger job either. I bought it in the mid 80s from a local gunshop for $165.00

there's a guy locally selling a 13-3, blued with 3" heavy barrel, and what look to be factory round butt combat grips. everything looks to be in great shape, but he wants $650 for it.

price seems awfully high to me. am i missing something?

High, even here in Cali.

The grips are a nice touch, even though I don't think that the factory ever shipped one with that style....you could get a NIB old stock 13 with box and all for $900 here (and that's high IMHO), I think that $650 is high for a 13-3 (even with those grips, which I like :)).
