A while back I picked up my second 5" Heavy Duty. Very thin bluing but no rust or even minor pitting. Timing is perfect and the gun is tight. I just got back from the range with it, and Wow. I shot a wide variety of factory ammo, std, +P, LWC, etc. It shot very well with everything, but when I loaded it with the Remington HTP LHP+P (known as the treasury load or FBI load) it was knockin em dead. Two inch groups at 10 yards and hit right at point of aim. This gun is not the prettiest girl at the dance but she can really shoot. A good pistol shot (which I am not) would make this look like a high end target gun. Serial number is S 82375, only 6223 older than the other HD. I'll try to get some pictures of this "ugly duckling" sharpshooter uploaded, but it is not much to look at. Looks can be deceiving.

There was a reason they were so popular.

These pictures are very kind and flattering to the gun. I does not look this good in person. Someone in the past flattened the back of the front sight, but it does not look like they took any off the top. That modification does help with the sight picture. Also they might have used a little 0000 on the barrel. While I'm making excuses for the looks of the gun please excuse the PC magnas.

What a tack driver.

That gun doesn't need any excuses. They were made to work and that one looks rough and ready!
