HeavyDuty question

I bought the pistol from a friend last summer. I was told it belonged to the grandfather. Serial number dates it to 1935. It has obviously been refinished with a Matt black finish. Lettering is crisp, screw slots crisp. Very nicely done inside (under grip panels) and out. My question is: does anybody recognize what type of refinish was applied ?

It could well have one of the spray and bake Teflon-based coatings sold for use on guns.
