The easiest way to tell if a 32RF tip-up is Model 1 1/2 or Model 2 is to look at the top strap. Model 1 1/2 square-butt had a cylinder stop in the bottom of the frame, while the Model 2 had a hammer actuated top strap cylinder stop. The other way is to look at the barrel length. Model 1 1/2 was not offered with a 6" barrel.
There was only one model of Model 2. Early guns (changed around #3000) had a 2 pin top strap, while later ones had 3 pins. Standard barrel lengths were 4", 5", and 6". THis model was introduced in 1861, so saw action in the Civil War.
