ITS A GREAT START ! ! ! THE DOOR HAS BEEN OPENED. NOW THE QUESTION BECOMES--"WHY THEM, AND NOT ME ? ? ?" THE RULES CAN'T BE ARBITRARILY APPLIED…..

DC lost enough in the lawsuits that it had no choice but to come around, same as IL, etc. They can start being restrictive to see what they can get away with - until someone sues again. That's how it's done by governments everywhere.....

Exactly, that's why this is a never ending battle. Even after being rebuked by a court, the anti's refuse to abide by any rulings. They just place a new obstacle in the way, then the court battle begins anew.

I'm waiting for some legal eagle to bust out a lawsuit claiming selective CCW administration is a discriminatory practice. Then the DC police can do battle with the PC police, and we can sit back to watch the ensuing fireworks.

I have a very good reason to apply for a concealed carry permit! When I was 18 years old I was an intended murder victim who was left for dead then in a coma for 10 days and then another four days until I could once again walk on my own then a recuperation of 8 months with no driving or aircraft flight allowed due to my brain injury.

As soon as I turned 21 I bought my first but not last weapon I think it was a cheap .25 semiauto then went to a .38 revolver and have carried ever since, cause I will not be a victim again, or at least I will fight back.

Heck , you don't need to wait , the court fights ( yes plural) never ended.

Plantiffs in the US District Court ( aka Gura ) are seeking to have DC held in contempt because the new permitting scheme is blatently contradicting the District Court Ruling. Motions flying back and forth , and a ruling is due ( overdue) to apear any day now.

Meanwhile before the fur has stopped flying in District Court , the DC Gov't apealed to US Crrcit Court , then asked to have that placed on "hold" until District Court actions are concluded. They were turned down by Circit , and the fight is going on in two Courts simultanously. Kind of a Constitutional Law tag team mud wrestling.

As to their current Permit Scheme , they admit taking the worst elements of NY , NJ and Md and combining them.

Eight people?? And they didn't release the names. Remember the onging gag line on the TV show Laugh-In with the cigarette holding actor saying "Very interesting" as a German officer?

This situation is "very interesting". I would bet that the first 8 are ACORN volunteers or someone else that will NEVER own or carry a weapon. The licenses will be for show. Can't release the names to protect their identities.

BUT, that same strategy will bite them in the butt later when they won't be able to release the names of REAL applicants that get approved, assuming any really do get approved.

Disclosure of CWP permit holders still happens in several states, but the trend is to withhold that info from the general public. DC might have screwed themselves by setting the precedent of non disclosure.

Of course, for us, that is good news.

I wonder when (or IF) the elected and unelected bureaucrats will be forced to accept that they are not our Lords and Rulers, but merely public servants and "we, the people" are the public they were hired to serve. Most of us are so busy with our lives, our families and our jobs that we have, by lack of attention, allowed the bottom quintile to take over our public administration. These are the very folks who were given "swirlies" in Jr. High, relegated to the Audio-Visual Club in High School, and went home to their rent-subsidized apartments on the short bus. Now, they pay us back for their well-deserved feelings of inadequacy by imposing petty and byzantine rules and regulations that are only interpreted to benefit their friends.

Wow what an accomplishment for them to achieve.

Now they get to be part of the United States of America!

names

The names of CCL holders should not be made public, because that would merely aid the thugs in knowing which houses to avoid... or which houses to break into to look for guns when the owner is away.

Criminals should be required to only use registered guns.

If they commit a crime using an un-registered gun they should be arrested.

So, if you use public transportation or ever enter a 7-11 you are SOL.

The last time I read through the concealed carry law for Illinois, it was pretty much the same thing. There are so many restrictions on where you can't carry, you might not as well carry at all.

Not to mention the $300 for the license and another $300 for the approved class (I think it's $150 for residents and I believe the class price is full freight. If you have certain training certificates and are military, the cost goes down.).

One would think they don't want you to be carrying...

This is the heart and soul of our government!

They deny citizens their rights then lie, connive, scheme and scam when caught by the courts.

It makes me sick.

Wonder how many politicians have a CC permit in DC?
Says police are starting to issue, I have a real problem with non elected people have any say so on anything about whom gets to carry or not.
