hey yall, my name is Nick from TN. I been reading alot here and thought i would join in on the talk a little and see if i could get some good advice on a trade i got going on. I have a New Model Ruger 357 Blackhawk 4 5/8 barrel [Blued] Six shot, i can trade it for a 65-3 smithwesson 4 in. barrel, stainless six shot 357. gona have 250.00 in the smith if i trade. would you trade are keep the ruger? I`ll try to get some pics going so you can see what i got. Thanks for all the great posts.

can`t have both, i got to buy a small ccw somewhere. stainless steel S&W of course. I love my ruger Blackhawk But man this s&w is smooth. Big brain racker.

Welcome from Oklahoma! Since you asked, any time I could trade a Ruger for a S&W, I'd do it. JMO

Have you shot the smith yet? Looking at the rib on the Ruger unusual. Don't underestimate the Ruger because it's a single action, what do you intend to use it for?

the smith shoots good and so does the ruger. either one is mostly a home gun, the ruger is single action only, all cowboy style. the smith is double and single action, faster to shoot and load im thinking.

It sucks being on a tight budget I think most of us have been there I know I have, for over 20 yrs I would buy and trade constantly that was the only way I could shoot and load for all the guns I liked, its your call on this one but I do know you'll be happy with your choice at least for a while. Have fun choosing!

Even though they're the same caliber, they fill two different roles. I'd feel a little more secure with the 65 if you may have to use it as a defense gun for the reasons you stated. If you think you'll have "trader's remorse", I can't say I've ever experienced it swapping a Ruger (fine guns though they are) for an S & W. Let us know what happens.

Self defense house gun - go with the S&W. Much more versitile. The Blackhawk is good for a fun gun or for hunting, but you said it yourself, its single action and loading is impaired next to a swing out cylinder and speed loaders.

think i`ll keep the ruger and buy the smith, that way i`ll have them both and the ccw will come later. sure don`t want to let a good smith&wesson get away for that price. Thanks alot for all the ideals on this.
