I'm called capt john @ [email protected]. Love S&W's-always have. I've usually been able to find out a particular Smitty's DOM from the internet. However, no luck on this one. It's a K22. Four screw. Serial # is K283376. Nickel plated. Appears to be a factory job and the whole piece is in excellent shape. Only scratch on it is the cylinder ring. Anybody know the DOM and possible value of this gun?? I think it's a transition gun because of the four screw but they might've done things a little different on nickel plated guns. Don't know. Anyway, glad to be here and I hope to learn a bunch from you people. thanx capt john

Hello captain john & welcome aboard from The Great Lakes!!

The serial no. that you provided should date to 1956.

Thanks, guys, for all the intros. Ogly, if this K22 is 1956 then it is a "transition" K22 so the four screw and the date match up. Now, last but not least, anyone have an idea what it's worth?? Mostly NIB with the only scratch on the gun is the cylinder ring. But aside from all that I've already learned a few things just from reading this blog. I'll be in touch. capt john

Welcome aboard captain john from the great state of Pennsylvania! You might want to take a look at S&W Hand Ejectors: 1896 to 1961 for more information. I noticed a bunch of member's have asked for the year of manufacture and the worth of their K22 and got responses.

Welcome from Texas capt john. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.
