I have been trying to get registered on the forum since September and seem to have finally done so today. I have been a Smith & Wesson owner since I received my duty weapon as a new city police officer after I returned home from Vietnam. It was Model 28 Highway Patrolman .357. I subsequently purchased a Smith & Wesson Model 27, followed by a Model 40 Centennial, a Model 29, and a short barrelled Model 27. All of these were purchased in Tacoma, Washington at Welchers Gun Shop. Colonel Welcher "liked cops" and we all made our personal weapons purchases from him. I recently purchased a new Model 627 Performance Center 8 shot 2.6 inch barrelled pistol I paid more for it than total for all the other Smiths. Times have changed. Judging by this new gun it appears that Smith & Wesson has recaptured me, at least, as a loyal follower and satisfied customer. I completed my 4th decade in law enforcement this past spring and have begun to give some thought to retirement. As a regular reader of this forum I have been impressed with the enthusiasm and knowledge abundantly available. Thanks for having me.
