Congrats on a good start, and on finding your way here...Some of us were stationed in what was then West Germany many years ago, but wasted too much time and GI pay on the beer, and less on the important things like the gun cabinets at the Rod & Gun Club...

I enjoyed my 31 months stationed in Nuremberg with the US Army in the mid-60's.
I liked Munich, but enjoyed the smaller towns like Oberammergau, Bad Tolz, Berchtesgaden, and Garmish more. The people were friendlier, the food delicious, and the bier refreshing.

686....GREAT first choice. My first was a model 10, I loathed trading it in for the 686 but I really love the 686. So I just bought a model 10 a few year ago 'for my wife'.
