Hi my name is "Christian",

I came here to seek advice(in the 1980-present revolver section).

Something about our gun laws:
Here in good old Germany one must have ben a member of a shooting club for at least 12 months, you have to pass a test with at least 70% score(about gun laws. safety regulations and a little ballistics) and you must have a safe to store your handguns. Then only if you are deemed reliable you may own a personal firearm.
Every gun has to be registered of course and you may only buy 2 guns in a 6 months period.
The costs for registering are pretty high also.

But a carry permit is even harder to get, only possible if you are an endangered person or need it on your job (e.g.: security gard)

After the latest "kid going postal" there will probably be even more restrictions on handguns.

Best regards.
Christian

Welcome to the forum, Christian!

I have a question for you: Are you reading and posting on this forum through the translator and if so, how is that working for you?

If you are not, your English is perfect!

I'm flattered,

no I don't use the translator.
English has been a compulsory subject since 4th grade in primary school.
And then again when I studied "Computer Science".
Now I'm working for an international company named "Sportradar".
Most of our correspondence is in English.
We even have classes at work for people having problems with that.

English is the business language, otherwise we would have to learn Czech, Norwegian, Swedish and Estonian.

Best regards,
Christian

Christian, welcome from North Carolina. If I remember correctly English was mandatory in Schule back in the 60s when I was stationed at Bitburg.

I grew up in Eastern Germany, behind the iron curtain.
We were the first children to have English only instead of Russian.

Willkommen, I was stationed at Hahn AFB southwest of Frankfurt between the Rhine and Mosel rivers from 1986-1989.

Welcome from Texas Christian. Great forum, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Always nice to have a new member of the S&W family check in from across the pond.

Sorry to hear of the restrictions you must deal with.

Welcome, Christian.

If you get a chance, I would love to know your opinion of the translation service we are using. I am curious how "good" the translation really is.

Since you would be comfortable with either language, you would be the one to ask!

Thanks, and Welcome Again!
