Just want to stop in to say Hello. I bought a S&W model 41 .22 target pistol on January 16th 2010 and will do some more research here, in additional to the other research I already did before purchasing it. I love the model 41 .22 target pistol but I put over 1,400 rounds through it and I'm still getting jam's about 1 jam every 10 rounds.
I'm using the ammo I was instructed to use: CCI Standard Velocity 40 grn but this thing is still having a lot of FTE. Just to note, I sent (actuall drove because I live in Massachsetts) the pistol to the S&W repair center late February 2010 for repairs. They spent 3 weeks doing their thing, sent it back to me and the same thing is happening. Their repair note stated that they polished the BBL ramp and adjusted the extractor but still problems every mag. I also purchased the wolf sping kit - the 7, 6.5 and 6 spring rates and used them all, with the 6.5 having the best results but still FTE. I just put the factory spring back in.
I wrote S&W customer service about a week ago (a one pager) just letting them know what I'm experiencing with the Model 41 after their fix and plan to take another trip up there soon to drop it off again.
I can tell you one thing though, when the 41 releases that .22 when working, it is dead on. Great shooter.
Sorry for the long intro but I'm also looking at buying a 627-V-Comp Performance Center revolver within the next month or so, and will do some research on that model as well.
Just to note: my other handguns are all HK's but I love Smith & Wesson as well and trying to learn more about them before I purchase my next one.
Cheers
Bryant
