Good Morning,

This is my first post to this forum but I've been around firearms and handguns for a number of years. My first S&W purchase was a model 41, that I picked up for Bullseye and metallic silhouette shooting and then a big bore which was a 629 in the early 80's. I went through a spell where I was buying model 29's as I came across them from the 4" up though the 10 5/8". Most of them ended up being traded after a while but the 629 has always stayed with me. I have taken 1/2 dozen whitetails with it in Michigan along with jackrabbits in Colorado. My favorite story with the 629 was about 1985 when I went with my Dad and some friends out to Rose Lake shooting range to sight in for the upcoming deer season. We were at the 100 yd range and when everyone finished with their rifles, I pulled out the 629, sat down at the bench and fired off 5 rounds. We proceeded down range and I had a nice 5" group in the center of the target. Naturally I downplayed the target saying that it should have been a lot tighter then that while beaming inside. Like I said, it's a keeper.
