Hello
I am new to this forum and would like to start by saying hello.
I have recently purchased the .460 with a 5 inch barrel and I have a few questions that I am sure have been asked and answered already so please bare with me.

1. First is the 5 inch on the XVR platform I would assume that it is even though it does not say so on the gun itself and then 2. What does the pc stand for in a XVR 7.5 inch PC model

Hello and welcome. I can't answer your first question, I'm not all that familiar with that model. To answer the second I would imagine the PC stands for Performance Center. I hope the .460 is not your first gun as that is alot of gun to start out with. I have been shooting for 30 years and I'm not sure I could handle one. In all seriousness welcome and keep asking questions. That is one way experts become experts, they have had the same questions at one time or other.

It is an X frame and the XVR is part of the model - ie: 460XVR which means extreme velocity revolver. I see you are in Alaska... all of us here will be looking for stories and pictures!

Thanks BK and Ken.
This is not my first hand gun or gun for that matter. It would definitly be a lot of gun for a first time pistol owner. I just didnt have anyone that could give me a straight answer about the frame .
I purchased the 5 inch barrel because I am in the woods alot and need good bear protection.I also spend quite a bit of time on our narrow rivers hunting moose and thought it would be cool to bag one with a hand gun. I will keep you posted thanks

Well, you certainly chose an appropriate revolver for a Moose. As noted, you have a Performance Center version, which means a tuned trigger, probably a different sighting option than standard, and a "tuned" trigger. However, from what I have heard the trigger in the X frames is so good that "tuning" has little noticeable effect.

One plus for the 460 is that you can also shoot the 454 Casull for a "bit" less bark, however as powerful as either of these calibers are that difference may not be noticed. Another plus is that between the two calibers you have a pretty wide variety of bullet types and weights to choose from.

Downside is they are freakishly LOUD. It will run about 2000 dollars but I would recomend that you look into some high end electronic in the ear hearing protection so you can always have your "ears on" while in the field with protection that allows you to hear an approaching bear in the brush. That way you won't have to worry about the hearing damage it will do if you ever used it without protection. Yeah, I know, you'd rather be deaf than dead, however IMO it's better to be alive and hearing instead of alive and deaf. Point is, those very spendy in the ear setups cost a lot up front but in the long run they are probably less costly than the medical costs for trying to get some of your hearing back.
