I am not new to gun ownership. But i am kinda new to automatic pistols. I have just bought a brand new Smith & Wesson Sigma SW40VE, and I have a few questions if someone might share some knowledge of this pistol. I am shooting PMC Bronze 180 grain fmj ammo and a few Winchester hollow points for personal protection and target shooting right now. What i want to Know is what brand, OR kind of shot shell if any can i shoot in this gun just for snakes. I want to know it they have enough power to cycle right are if it will eject them. And also on what kind of after market upgrades are available as in trigger pull and barrel length. I would appreciate any information this forum would share

Yes there are special rounds you can use just for snake hunting. I would not really suggest it though. I used them once and they are kind of Out of control.
As for custom stuff, there are custom sights, and springs. Barrel length, no. and I would not reccomend using the custom springs either, they are poo, poo.
you can do a trigger job on it. Go to YouTube and search for SW40VE Trigger Job. It is pretty easy to do and takes about a minute. See some of my other posts. There are 2 springs you dont need in the sear block assembly, some people here say you do, but, you don't. I have done everything to my gun you can thing of. The best is to remove those 2 springs and lube the area with WD-40. This took my trigger pull to 3 lbs. As far as travel you can do something but its tricky. Just take the gun apart and figure out what makes the travel so long and go from there. Once you figure that part out, order a few of the part you are going to modify because you will mess it up the first couple of times you do it.
My mission originally was to do everything and anything to get the gun to fail, 20,000 rounds later, no luck. I think its a pretty solid gun and you can mess with the inner workings alot and still have a great little piece.

Welcome from a fellow Texan TXGUNOWNER. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.
