As most know I am into 27's :D:D and an occasional 29:D..
However I ran across a 25-5 4" in .45LC...
Problem I have NO idea what it is worth.. ..

No box or tools.. Pachmeyr grips.. very little blue loss/ wear.. if at all.. has turn ring..has been fired.. round count unknown.. Red Ramp, one side has blue loss on sight only.. White Outline Rear Sight..

What say ye??? Can anyone give me a suggested " what's it worth"??

Thanks
Sal

The 4" 25-5 is not often seen (surprises me as I see no use for a long barrel in 45 Colt).

Is it pinned? About half are and the rest are not. Pinned adds a bit.

Missing stocks deduct about $50 IMO.

I would expect to see it tagged at $650. I would not buy one at that price, but that's what I would expect.

I think SP is about right. Here is mine. I know john linbaugh thinks the 4" 25-5 is the greatest invention since the radio!

You sir are correct.. I just realized I had forgotten to list the Tag Price.. It was tagged at 695.00.. which I thought was high.. I figure it could be had @$625.. OTD.. I'll pass and continue my search for a 27, 3 1/2" Nickel:D

Thank you Mr. Pig.. and Mr. Feralmerril:cool:

Looked at same gun. Just did not seem like a good enough deal to jump on it.

Sal-

Pinned only adds for a collector who doesn't shoot. Non pinned for me please, since all non pinned gun have the correct throats in them. very few N serialized guns with the pinned barrel do. I know guys will post how theirs shoots great, but what's great to one isn't to another.

Sal,
It looks even better without the rust preventative on it;), and it shoots great. Don't overlook any 25-7's either. Not as shiny, but really good shooters and in my favorite barrel length on an N frame, 5"-

I have 600 bucks in my non pinned 25-5, no box or tools, correct N frame targets..
Excellent handgun, doesn't get as much shooting time as she should, but it is a hoot to shoot

Just a little food for thought Sal, I saw one this past weekend at the gun show in Collinsville, Il. It was in it's presentation box (blued model 25-5) and the tag said "$800"! So $600 sounds about a good place to start. Dale

Most all of the 25s and 625s I have seen and purchased were in the $600. to $800. range.
The 3" 625s top the market for demand and low production numbers.
The 4" 25-5s and 25-9s follow second in handiness and desirability.
The 625 Mountain revolvers almost have a cult following,
beilg light and quick and easy to pack but having good punch with
the 250 gr. bullet.
Longer barrels trade for substantially less.
I just recently won a gun broker auction for a like new 8 3/8ths 25-9
for $650.

I guess I would be the dude to ask as I now have 11 Smiths chambered in 45 Colt.
These I hand load for and shoot regularly. They rank very high on the
'smile scale' for ease and downright shooting pleasure.

Sal, the next time you run across one you don't know about
call me, we are in the same state.

Regards , Allen Frame
