Help? Buying advice needed

I have the funds available for one more S&W.

The choice is between a nice S&W 52 no dash, or a NIB S&W MOdel 10 ( current manuf )

Which one? I already have a 52-1, and the following S&W revolvers - 67 no dash, 17-2, 14-3 SAO, 14-8 nickel, 29-8 engraved.

Which one?

That said if you have a line on a 52 at the price of a 10...... and have a source of ammo....... the 52.

Note the position of the trigger and the dings around the trigger pin on the model 52. Someone tinkered with it, so I'd look it over carefully before buying. The first series 52's used a single action/double action trigger that was altered to single action only with a set screw.

Trigger on the 52 has an obvious issue and the model 10 has an IL. Caution on the 52 (must have a great price) and no way on the 10 - just too many of those guns out there to buy that one...

Ummm we understand that the trigger on a no-dash 52 as shown in that picture will be "properly adjusted" when the hammer is cocked, right?

There is no evidence that the 52 no-dash as pictured has "an obvious issue", that is how a no-dash 52 appears when it is set for DA/SA.

If that pistol is under $1,200 then it is likely a better buy than almost ANY Model 10 and if you are truly speaking of a new production Model 10 hahaha, then a no-dash 52 is worth FIVE of those.

Not bashing 10's... I have arguably a half dozen of them. They are a great utility revolver. But a 52 is a prize. A current production 10? I would not own.

That leaves the M52.

Pass on both since you already have a 52-1 and other revolvers. The marks and trigger position looks awkward. I'd walk away.

If the price is right, I'd scoop that 52.
Let's be blunt, even if you replaced all trigger components, all springs,
and pins, you'd still be way ahead if you got it for the price of a 10

If naught else, you have a Parts Gun.

Next time you go in there, see if you can rack the slide.
If the trigger moves to the appropriate spot, yet set.
If not, ask about its history...point out that the trigger isn't setting right for that particular model.
That's usually a "Buying Question", so be prepared if they offer to knock a bit off the price.
If they do, buy it once you've knocked 'em down as far as it'll go.

Make sure you know the cost of a whole new trigger assembly & whatnot,
so you'll know if they're knocking off enough.

IL refers to the internal lock.

You can find an older model 10 (or pre-10, or M&P) in gorgeous condition for $400-$450.

I do not know the market in Australia, but as much as I like revolvers, I would assume that you are eventually going to get both (maybe not in Australia) and I would go with the Model 52 because it is harder to find. At least here in Houston good Model 10's are at almost every gun show.

I would take the M52 as well. They are a really nice gun to shoot.

Considering the nasty gun laws in Australia, the 52 would definitely be a good choice.
Not a bad price for Down Under, either.

An update guys :

I purchased the Model 10, but am still thinking seriously about that M52. However, the odd position of the trigger, and indentations around the trigger pin on the frame really concerns me.

In addition, the trigger does not look like an original 52 trigger either...
