Hi,

Anyone know what this is?

Looks to me to be some kind of 8mm Mauser but thought I would ask to see if anyone is familiar with this.

Thanks

LPS usually mean "Light Ball" ammo, probably 154 gr. "Fara Lame" means its not on clips, so probably packed in boxes. The language is Romanian. The markings are worn and your small picture is a challenge, so I'm uncertain of what else is written on there. But yours is similar enough to others on the Web for me to say:

Romanian, 7.92x57, 154gr, 380 rounds.

In all probability it is steel cased and uses corrosive primers. The "75" in the middle line of information is almost certainly the year of manufacture, 1975.

Edited to add:

A bit more poking on another forum shows that the bullet may be steel cored.

As stated it is Romanian 8mm, large amounts of which have been imported into the US over the last couple decades. It is corrosive primed, steel case (I've only seen brass case in much older lots, 50's era) and usually very reliable. I've shot up quite a bit of it over the years without any significant issues. Does shoot slightly lower than the heavy ball many military rifle sights are set for but not enough to matter for casual shooting.

Thanks for all the information. Figured it would be corrosive and steel cases but was hoping the it had copper (Non Magnetic ) bullets. So many ranges won't allow steel core bullets and I was hoping to be able to pull and reuse them.
