Hey all, I just picked up 5906 in great shape and for short money. It's perfect except for the fact that it came with a shimmed adapter plate for a red dot, not a factory rear sight like the one pictured below. I've been looking everywhere for one and it now seems impossible to find. S&W doesn't even have any apparently. If anyone knows where I can find one or has an extra one lying around, I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks, guys!

Depends how much you wanted to spend. Neither Brownells nor Midway has them, or the separate parts, to make a complete adjustable rear assembly. Numrich Arms lists all the parts in stock to make a complete assembly, but it adds up to like $140, I think. I have a spare complete assembly in backstock, but the guard "ears" are blued, from a 5904 slide. Check out the Numrich Arms website and let me know if you would be interested in what I have. You can PM me here.

Keep an eye out for a "parts kit" or slide assembly on the online gun auction websites like GunBroker. Often you can get the entire slide assembly for less than buying the parts for the sight by itself.

Also, look for the slides for 2nd generation stainless pistols with adjustable sights (659, 639) as a source to harvest the rear sight to use for your pistol, the adjustable rear sight assemblies are the same as what's used on the 3rd gen pistols like your 5906.

Thanks for all the help, guys. Caleb went out of his way for me. Thanks again for everything!
