I need a very basic clip type IWB holster (nothing too expensive) for my 340PD (also to be used with a few other J-Frames). I want something made of thin material (leather or nylon) that makes the gun sit somewhat lower below the belt line. I have had IWB holsters for some of my autos that sit too high, and as a result the gun can almost pop out when concealing it in the front near ziper when sitting down. I do not want anything that clips onto a belt with snaps or loops just something that I can slide into a pair of pants/shorts. I looked at one by Shooting Systems that looks to fit my needs but am helping for more opinions. Thanks for any opinions.

Get a pocket holster. Belts are for bigger guns.

I already have a Hedley Pocket holster which is top quality. However, from time to time my style of dress does not permit me to use the Hedley and therefore I need an IWB.

"TAGUA" makes a great little IWB that won't break the bank...about $25.00. They come in two sizes (Medium & Large). A J-frame seats well into the large size, encasing the trigger and trigger guard. If you want the gun to ride a little higher, then select a medium. These are ambidexterous, not firearm specific, leather with steel spring clip. They collapse when the firearm is removed. There is always one on my pants, off-side/crossdraw whether I have a gun in it or not. The large also accomodates all Glocks and other similar size autos.

As for the advise to carry a primary weapon in the pocket....I will offer this test. Imagine that you are in a location where SHTF. I don't know about anyone else, but the first move I make will be toward cover/concealment. That may entail crouching behind/under something. Try crouching behind an upturned table, bar, etc. and drawing a firearm from the pocket. I shot a course one time and started with gun in pocket, the first cover was a 55 gallon drum. Could not draw without revealing parts of my body that I would rather not have shot. Immediately stopped carrying primary in pocket; it's always on the belt now. Same goes for reloads. Just MHO.

I think that I am going to take a gamble and go for the one by shooting systems. I checked out the ones listed in prior posts and none of them fit my needs.

I allways use Uncle Mikes soft clip holsters IWB for my ultra light J's. Cheap, comfortable and sits deep.

There are many IWB holsters that are designed the way that you want. They are called "Deep Concealment Holsters" That's what you want!!!!Bob
