Great movie on Prime

Saw a trailer for SISU 2 the other day, apparently now he is pissed off at the Russians. Looks like SISU X 2 would be a better descriptor!!

SISU 2: ROAD TO REVENGE
Looks pretty good. Looking forward to it when it comes out in November. I can't believe Steven Lang is still doing action movies at 73! Good matchup between him and Jorma Tommila.

Dude just can't catch a break!

If you have a chance, catch Sisu on Prime before it's taken down. Made in Finland, so there's no recognizable actors, but a lot of action. Lots of Tarantino influence with over the top gore and dark humor.
I'll check it out. Good movies are hard to find these days! My wife and I just binged (over 2 nights) the first 6 episodes of season one of "Departure w/ Christopher Plummer ". It was worth watching!

We have the usual selection of channels along with Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple TV, Peacock, Paramount+, Youtube and Xfinity and we often wind up watching a vintage 1940's vintage movie after spending 20 - 30 minutes searching for something new to watch.

After 20mins of searching I fall back to "My Man Godfrey". Must have seed it 100 times. I try to find a decent series thats been on at least 4-5 seasons. Getting tough to find.

Watched it a while back. It is entertaining and I agree with the Tarantino style comparison. It is a little hard to believe but then again, it's entertainment. Without trying to be provocative, I like Tarantino films. To each their own you like what you like.

I would recommend this film.

Not really. The reason so many poor quality films are made these days is because there are audiences that will watch virtually anything and call it good. Tarantino work is a good example. Sort of like eating fast food daily and calling it delicious.
Have you seen Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?

I like some Tarantino movies — e.g., above, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown — but not others — e.g., Kill Bill, Django, The Hateful Eight.

Tried to watch it; after a few minutes I could see it was a waste of time. Same for Django. I tried to watch Pulp Fiction, giving it two chances, but it was unwatchable. I did see all of Hateful Eight the second time I looked at it, but I'm not sure why I did that. However, it was not the first poor decision I've made in my life. Really terrible western, easily among the worst ever made.

Jackie Brown was worth watching; certainly not an excellent movie but a pretty good one with a decent cast. Tarantino's tastes in film may be as poor as that of his film disciples, but I guess even he slips up once in a while and makes something worth seeing.

Thanks for the heads up!
I've seen parts on YouTube but not the entire film.
One tough guy!
I liked the look on the German when Sisu stabbed him through the noggin.
Cool dog!

I too am not a huge fan of his writing style as it seems gratuitous violence is used to make up for the lack of ability for character development.
But he sells, I'm sure they said the same thing about Sam Peckinpah and The Wild Bunch back in '69.

As I recall after seeing "The Wild Bunch" when it was released.. a first-class production and while the degree of violence was certainly discussed, I don't recall anyone disliking the movie. The fine cast may have had a something to do with the film's popularity as well; all the main characters were well-established actors with many good roles to their credits.

I was only 5 at the time so it took me about 10 years later to see it and was absolutely enamored with the film. It was the film that out me down the path of not only most of his other films but into the world of independent filmmakers.
And yes the cast was outstanding, first rate actors all of them.

I think "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" is one of the best films ever. It is original, thought provoking and brilliantly written. The alcoholic actor as portrayed by Leonardo is spot on. Brad Pitt as a stuntman based loosely on Hal Needham is amazing. Pitt is one of America's finest actors, if not THE finest. He immerses himself in the role. Pikey Mickey. Enough said. This movie is for sure my first Desert Island movie picks. Sisu is good too. The Fins are tough, and I enjoyed it from that perspective.

Okay, this is a rather surprising coincidence. Until about 2 months ago, I (like most, I would imagine) was mostly unaware of the Finnish concept of "sisu."

At the very top of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, there is a tiny town called Copper Harbor. The entire area has a strongly Finnish history. It is a remote, relatively mountainous area, where in recent years they hold an event in July called Run the Keweenaw. The event entails 3 races. On day 1, they have a 5k trail run in the morning, followed by a 10k in the afternoon. The next day, they hold a 25k run. All 3 races are done on rocky terrain over mountain bike trails, and the extreme elevation changes make for a grueling challenge.

My 64 year-old bride is a feisty, athletic lady, who discovered this event last year, so for the past 2 years we have ventured north so she could participate. At the close of the event each year, when all participants gather for the closing ceremony, after all the awards have been distributed for winners of each race by sex and age group, they give out an award called the Sisu award, to that runner who has best demonstrated the tenacity and determination that define the sisu spirit. This year's award was presented to my bride. Yes, I am proud of her.

We will be watching the movie. Thanks for sharing.
