HELP FOR MY MODEL 28-2

I bought a model 28-2 at an estate sale. The wife had the box of bullets with only 12 missing that was purchased with the gun.When cycling the gun in double action, there is one area of the cylinder that drags and is harder to pull than the rest. The double action is smooth and easy except for the one area on the cylinder.When cocking the gun in single action, the same one area drags and is harder to cock. I cleaned and oiled the cylinder and it did not improve. I did not remove the sideplate to clean. Any idea what is wrong with the gun?

First, check the extractor rod and see that it is running true when you spin it, secondly, make sure there are no powder granules or dirt beneath the extractor (clean that area with a toothbrush just to make sure), and thirdly, check the tight chamber and see if it is dragging on the back of the barrel when turning the cylinder. Lastly, check for end shake, that is fore and aft play in the cylinder when it is closed up in the gun. There should be just a tiny amount of play.

Thanks Bill for the INFO. I checked everything you mentioned and found a burr on the cylinder that may be rubbing on the barrel. I will remove the bur and see if that does the trick. If not, are there any other issues to check? Thanks again.

If you think the gun really only has a dozen rounds through it, the 1st thing to do might be to shoot it. May need to be "broke in".

No. It should NOT be binding. Find the problem before shooting it.

I removed the burr and it is much better. The trigger pull feels the same on all chambers in DA. In SA,the cylinder does not bind like before the adjustment. I plan on "BREAKING IT IN" ASAP!!! Thanks to everyone who responded.

I acquired a used M-28 a while back that had maybe a half box shot through it. There was a REASON it had only been shot a bit. The yoke had been improperly fitted when it was new; the thing had WAY excessive end shake.

Make sure there is barrel forcing cone to front of cylinder clearance on all 6 as your cycle the gun around. Put some fired cases in the cylinder to force it forward during this process.
