Saw an old S&w in a shop on consignment. I have tried to ID it with a google search, but without a model number, got multiple different results.
1) the pistol is a break action
2) caliber .38 S&W
Numerous patent dates on top of barrel:
Jan. 17,24. 65
Jan. 11. 65
July 25.71
May 11. 1880
The pistol had a blued finish
SN: 96870
The shop owner said it was a Baby Russian, 2nd model. I googled that name, and all the pistols shown had a buckle finish.

If it is in fact a 2nd model Baby Russian, what is the value range?

Hi There,

Welcome the Forum!

The revolver in the pics appears to be a .38 S&W Single Action,
2nd. model but it isn't a Baby Russian. The serial number is near
the end of the run (last SN 108255) in 1891.

Cheers!
Webb

There is no way to give a value number based on a thumbnail image. Over 100,000 were made, so not scarce. Condition is the biggest factor in prices realized. S&W Standard Catalog, 5th Edition states $100 Poor to $525 Excellent.
