Help ID my gun. Pre-mod 10?

Would like shipping date for the following:

Hand Ejector, 4", Fixed sights, Parkerized, 5-Screw, pinned barrel.
No model number.
SN: C 243XX

"38 S&W SPECIAL CTG" on tapered barrel.
"CPD" frame marking (gift to me from widow of retired Cleveland policeman)

Yes, you have a .38 Military & Police model from 1948. You can call it a "pre-Model 10" if you like. Other than having a five screw frame, it is the same revolver as the one that became the Model 10 in 1958.

The CPD mark does indeed identify it as having served as a Cleveland Police Department sidearm. I own a CPD M&P unit that shipped in July 1947. It has an S prefix serial number and still has the long action that was discontinued in 1948.
