Help Identify this for my Father

My Father bought a top break 5 shot 32 caliber short S&W pistol. We are trying to identify the year made etc.

serial number 254402 on the butt of the handle.

This is a straight WAG given no photo and very little data.

Based on the serial number it could be a .32 Double Action 4th Model. Their s/n's ranged from 43406 thru about 282,999. They were made between 1883 and 1909.

This according to the 3rd Edition of the SCSW/

The last 32 Safety produced was sn 242,981, while there were over 327,000 32 Double Action revolvers made. It would have shipped from the factory around 1905, so is considered a "modern" firearm by the BATF.
