I am mainly a Colt collector, but I dabble in S&W, mainly .44 and .45 Hand Ejectors, Registered Magnums and 1960s-1980s custom guns. I have ASP, Devel, Behlert, Trapper and some other 39 and 59 pistols, but this one has stumped me. I bought it very inexpensively from Los Angeles CA area. I had it completely apart with grips off, and I couldn’t find any marks to help me identify who customized it. It doesn't look like a gun from any of the shops I listed above. This appears to be a 1971-72 serial. Frame is finished in polished chrome. Slide is a rougher texture of chrome. Trigger is very nice in both DA and SA.
I did find this old thread that suggests that an identical gun is a Behlert, but I honestly don’t see Behlert features in it. Another person I know also has an identical gun and said he bought it a few years ago in Ohio.

Since there are a number of these guns out there, I am hoping someone would know definitively who customized it.
