Monday, July 14th, I was going fishing early, so I put out the two garbage containers out
to the curb on Sunday night at 7pm, so I could leave a little earlier.
Mondat night at 6pm, the recycle unit had still not neen emptied.
I called the Reno waste office for a pick up and was scheduled for a pick up.
July 17 thursday, the concainer is still at the curb and full.
I called the office again.
Their operator "Sky" after a long didcusion, told me that the driver logged that the container was not put out.
Sky told me that the pick up unit did not see the container on Wensday;
and that no futher pick ups will be made until next Monday.

We have three more Bithdays partys in the nexy four days, with paper, cardboard boxs and recycle material, in the future.
Any ideas on what to do? I don't have a truck.

None of your friends own a truck? If you have two vehicles one should be a truck. They are handy to have. I help others with mine all the time.

Oddly, I am reminded of a set to I had with UPS. My parting words to the CS rep were, "Look, if your people are going to tell lies, don't make them see-through stupid ones." Guy driving the recycling truck was on the 'phone to his latest Miss Hotness and not paying attention.

The only way they can "miss" one of those bins is if some yahoo parks a truck or delivery van too close so they cannot reach it with the pick-up gadget. I had to be careful of this last year when I had contractors at the house for extended periods.

This week's fix: Stuff the excess in the regular trash.

Put the recyclables in the trash can for the next pickup. The world will not stop spinning.
I would do this. I do it all the time. Then I'd threaten Waste Management with changing companies. I've also done this. And did you know they offer a senior discount if over 55? They don't tell you till you threaten to drop them……… as a side note, I once called about a special pickup of a chaise lounge we were getting rid of. They wanted $45. I got my reciprocal saw out and they took it for free.🤣

ROFLMAO!!! You assume that we have more than one of anything in a state with barely 3 million people in it. To my knowledge, waste management in each city, town, county or whatever is handled by one company that negotiates for an exclusive contract. Choice? Not so much.

In my neighborhood, if you set your excess bagged trash or recyclables out by your totes, if anybody else has room in their totes, the excess gets picked up by the neighbors and put in their totes. Since I am single and live alone I always have extra space in my totes so the lady next door just sets her excess on the curb and I grab the stuff and stick it in my totes. Great neighbors in surrounding homes. The truck drivers are no longer permitted to leave the cab to grab the excess bags or boxes to throw in the lift bucket.

Do less and get paid more! I can remember when the garbage cans sat behind the house, and the garbagemen came around picked them up, took them to the garbage truck, emptied them and then carried them back to where they had got them.

Did you break down/flatten the boxes? Have a kid jump up and down in it.
Several years ago, I bought one of these:

Cutters.jpg

Electric and rechargeable, they quickly cut through all but the very thickest cardboard effortlessly and greatly increase the amount of space in my trash. I use the heck out of them!

My favorite is when they dump the can but somehow leave half of the trash still in it. Then I have to drag it back up the mountain and hope they do better next time. I mean,,, what's so hard about emptying a garbage can ?

So your garbage collection is part of your tax bill? Where I live it is not. You pay one of three (that I know of) to collect trash. I use WM simply because they pick up on Mondays. Nice to get rid of weekend stuff right away

A blue (recyclable) lid on a green (yard waste) container? Amazing they would pick it up at all. Here, the city supplies three. Blue, green, and black (regular garbage). On the few occasions that I can't get everything into the proper container, I put in my neighbor's. He does not mind. Anything can go into the black container.

It's still a private contractor, but it is the only one allowed to operate here. Consider it a county approved monopoly.

Here garbage pickup is supplied by the city. We are charged the fee on our water bills.

There is a private company that serves those outside the city and many (if not most) commercial accounts. Republic is the private company, although I believe it was recently purchased by some one else.
