I recently acquired these grips from a gent that I was buying Colt grips from. He had thought they likely fit the models listed on the box, but the box was originally for some walnut grips.
Do these look like they would be grips for:
357 Magnum
38/44 Heavy Duty
38/44 Outdoorsman
45 Mod. 1917 Army
44 Mod. 1926 Military
44 Mod. 1926 Target

If not any suggestions of how to identify them? I want to make sure that I list them correctly. Thanks

Pretty clear that they are for a N frame but the question is whether pre-war frame or not. Those listed are early N frames. I take it you don't own an N frame.

The pre-war frames were just a tad LONGER but the grips would fit both pre-war and post. If they were made for a pre war frame, they would overhang the bottom of the post war frame (butt) about 1/10 th of an inch depending on the particular gun.

Corrected 9/14.

That is some nice aged Sambar Stag.
You can say that again! Not only have they turned that mellow gold color that only happens with age, but they are also well matched and have some nice "popcorn".

I may be wrong, but I thought it was just the opposite. I thought the pre-war grips were longer than the post-war.

I struggled to remember which, also didn't go a verify which I should have. Your right.

Those stags are just gorgeous! I would love to find a nice set like that.

It wasn't only pre-war N frames that had the longer grip frame. The early post-war N frames also had a longer grip frame, up until around serial number S72000.
