Welcome to the Forum.

You have a K-22. It has a 6" barrel, measured from the front of the cylinder to the end of the barrel. Your revolver predates model numbers. The number you see is an assembly #, used during the build. It was probably shipped in 1947.
whoa! _that_ old? i inherited from my wifes Aunt (she is about 82 years old). i figured she had gotten in the 1980's or something. you think this thing is from the 1940's (i am NOT doubting you, i know -nothing- :) ). it just sounds cool to have such an old revolver. is it like 'worth alot'. i would never sell it, just curious at this stage. am heading to local range here and they say they can help me check it out and make sure it is safe to fire. then i will take a gun safety course, etc. thank you SO MUCH for the info.

That is correct, as the first response indicated it is a K-22 Masterpiece which places the year of manufacture between the dates you found (1947-1957) I cannot say for certain the specific year. It is considered one of the finest target revolvers ever made, being extraordinarily accurate and reliable. Enjoy!
