Can someone help ID what S&W Semi-auto 9mm barrel I have?

I bought it at a gun-show several years ago and threw it in a box thinking it would be a spare someday. Now I discover it doesn't quite match any I can find to compare.

The barrel is 3.5" (3-7/16" actual) and looks almost identical, except for the hood that protrudes at the top rear,(is very narrow .27" wide) when compared to the 6906/3913. The 6906 & 3913 look identical to me, to the point they might be interchangeable. (can anyone confirm this?)

The narrow hood on the mystery barrel looks to be the same width as a 5906, and fist the slide except that the barrel is about 1" shorter length.

All the other machining from the locking band back looks the same. So... is this for some short barrel 9mm that is closer to the 5906 in design than the 6906. A Chief Special maybe (3953/3954)? Shorty Nine (6946)? Later model design change?

Any ideas? Since I can't use it - what should I expect to sell it for (excellent shape)?

I can't tell you what it is, but I can tell it's not for a 908 - it uses the same barrel as the 3913. It's not a 910 or 915 either, they look like the 6906 barrel. It's definitely not a 39-2. It has the narrow hood but nothing else is the same.

As far a what you can sell it for, that's going to depend on what the application eventually turns out to be.

It is an early (89-92) 6906 barrel
The third gen went to a wider hood and slide cut out around '93
No idea on current value, but I might be interested to rechamber in .356TSW

Thanks Grinder,
That makes sense...
I don't know anything about .356TSW but I wondered if (with the right barrel/slide combo) a S&W 9mm could be successfully converted to 38 super?
