I have a 629 Deluxe. The factory grips are attractive, and I plan to keep them of course. However, I love the woods from Hogue and I'm trying to decide which of these to purchase for this gun. A little opinion sharing would be appreciated.
A and B are Kingwood. C and D are Cocobolo.

Those are nice looking grips, I like C or D.

I'd like to ask a question. Concerning size, I bought a pairs of VZ grips for my 629 and they are way small. I have average to large hands. How do the Hogue grips run?

A bit bigger in my opinion. They have a palm swell and are slightly longer.

I vote D. The Kingwood is nice but reminds me too much of commercial vinyl flooring, something not too eye-catching. You want eye-catching with your fancy wood grips.

D

"D" all day long, I especially like it when there is color variation. I also love this color variation of cocobolo, just a hard, deep purple as seen on my model 18. I found out the hard way, had to return a pair, that Hogue will send you photos of their stock on hand. I don't know if that option is in the fine print or if I just missed it but I sure love their cocobolo, kingwood and rosewood grips.

"A" or "D" ... NO ... Looking some more ...
I vote "D" ... Cocobolo for sure .

The grips on the model 58 in my avatar are Ahrend's Cocobolo ... not long after he announced that cocobolo was on the endangered species list and was no longer offered as wood for grips ...
If you can get Cocobolo ...Grab Em' !

Cocobolo are a great choice. Last purchased set i got from Ahrends before they closed. N frame. I really like them, but haven't put them on a gun yet.

Kim Ahrend's grips are missed ... I wish him well .

Stocks are a personal decision. Ignore what we say and choose what YOU like. It's your gun. You're going to hold it. You're going to shoot it. You're going to enjoy it. Enjoy what you like.

Then let us see pics. We like pics. ;)

This thread is in need of a poll!

Make sure you add option E. For checkered.

I personally think the darker stocks look better on blued guns. For yours I like D, then C, but you should put the ones YOU like best on your 629. For the range, I have rubber Hogues on mine. They don't look good, but it saves the web of my thumb from taking a pounding.

The beautiful creamy swirling in C makes it one I'd buy myself in a heartbeat. The other 3, not interested.
