Help me select a 1911 or a Nightguard Revolver

I ended up getting a Springfield Loaded 1911. Have not shot it yet and it's supposed to snow all weekend, so it will be a few days. It looks nice...reviews are good, so I'm hoping I got a good one this time. Thanks for all the advice and input! B

Given your choices, I'd take the 1911. It doesn't have a lock, and the firing pin is long enough to hit the primer.

In this case, the 1911's odds of being reliable and going bang when needed, are better than one of those "night guard" revolvers.

Personally, I'd take a 4566 over either of your choices. Good luck! Regards 18DAI.

I've got both, although my Nightguard is a 325 (.45 ACP). No reliability problems with my Smith or Kimber 1911s. Used to have an Officer's Model Colt - the 90s weren't a good time for that company. If you spend enough time shooting them, any autoloader (and a few revolvers) will have problems; that's why you train and shoot them - so you will know what to expect from the gun and how to deal with it.
