Hello,
I just acquired this pistol and I know nothing about
S&W antique pistols. Is this a model 1 1/2? It has no marking
except “Smith & Wesson” and patent date of 1863.
Thank you

Hi There,

Your revolver appears to be S&W Model 2. The #1-1/2 was a 5
shot .32 rf revolver and the #2 was a 6 shot. The patent date on
the cylinder is actually 1860; not 1863. The die used to stamp
the cylinders became damaged and the "0" came out deformed.

Cheers!

It is a #2 but it has been abused.
The left side grip is a replacement as well as the cartridge removal spud under the barrel. The barrel may well be cut or it may be a 5" with the front sight missing. 6" is most common

Brother L,
It's hard to tell the finish on your revolver (flash from camera) but it appears to be nickel which, if original, is not often found. Civil war revolvers are around the 25K serial numbers. Family heirloom?
