Hello all of you
I'am new and from Belgium.
I'am ,let's say, a little collector, I have moreless an hundred of S&W.

During my several researchs I faced two times a strange gun auction.

It's a .32 SA/DA 2" barrel but the patents marking are located on the left side of the barrel and are incomplete.

https://www.naturabuy.fr/Incroyable-rarissime-smith-Wesson-pocket-origine-Bleu-item-13817594.html

I have one in my collection and the markings are on the right side and as follow
#SMITH & WESSON.SPRINGFIELD.MASS. U.S.A#
PAT'D OCT.2.1883 AUG.4.1885 APR.9.1889
obviously, the ampersand is a lazy one

Is that for sale gun a fake or may be a factory mistake ?
I had a look in my books but I didn't found anything.

Best regrads

Hi There,

I'm not an expert on these 'bicycle guns' but I have read that sometimes the
patent dates roll stamp didn't make a complete impression on the side of the
barrel.

Cheers!
Webb

t,
Having collected these Small Top-Breaks for many, many years...I'm going to agree with Webb as to the Abbreviated Barrel Roll Mark being correct...Owned quite a few Short-Barreled Revolvers both Dbl-Action Top-Breaks & Safety Hammerless's that were roll marked in this manner!!

As to it having a Cut Barrel...I also believe from what I saw in the Photos of the Muzzle...The Barrel is correct as well!!

The patent marks moved from side to side mostly depending on which model one sees. Your revolver looks legitimate to me.
