I recently just picked me up a model 60 S&W revolver with a 2"1/8th barrel. I have never fired it and bought it brand new in the box and this is the first revolver i ever purchased.

My concern is i noticed the cylinder revolves very close to the frame, at some points it can create contact with the frame. There are a little scratch marks were it touches.

Is this normal our do I need to send my new gun in to S&W?

I would greatly appreciate if someone could clarify this.

It's perfectly normal to make contact with the cylinder where you have it circled in red.
Keeps the cylinder from sliding out of the yoke when the cylinder is swung open.

Well I took my gun back to the dealer this morning. He looked at it carefully and compared it to other s&w model 60 revolvers . Mine is definitely not normal. The cylinder itself is so close to the frame that light can barely go threw in-between the cylinder and frame. The two other model 60's had more space between the cylinder and frame and they are used guns and mine is a new gun.

It is very disappointed I hope S&W handles this matter promptly.

They should. I had an issue with a barrel that was fitted wrong on a new 442. They emailed me a FedEx label, and it was back in my hands (fixed) in 9 days after I dropped it off. What they lack (seemingly substantially) in QC, they make up for (for the most part) in CS. Good luck with the M60...its never fun to have to send back a new gun :/

I called S&W and sent me a shipping label. I like the way the way they handled the matter. I keep you all updated when i get it back.
