Hello. I'm hoping someone in the know can help me out. I am bidding on a S&W M10-5. Everything is said to working on it but it is missing the plunger , spring and pin that holds everything in place which sets underneath the barrel . This plunger I am referring to goes into the hole on the end of the extractor rod when in battery. If I am misstating the proper term of that part I apologize. Does anyone here have these 3 parts ? I presume The Gun Parts Corp. has them I thought I'd ask here first.

Also, among the other questions I have on my used revolver checklist I inquired about cylinder movement / lockup / end shake. This one was said to have minimal play in any direction . Just how important is this missing plunger to lockup during firing and is it really needed to prevent mechanical problems down the road ? FWIW, If acquired it would be shot with a warmish power +P load ( 125 gr JHP, 6.0 grs Unique ). Thank You .

You can find the front locking bolt, spring, and pin if needed at S&W, Midway, Brownells, etc. Remember that the front locking bolt is not considered a "drop in" part. and may need to fit to your gun.

The front locking bolt and extractor rod interface does provide a considerable amount of support for the yoke and cylinder assembly during firing, consequently, I would not advise shooting the gun without the properly fit locking bolt in place.
