hi, i have a model 19-5 that i'm hot rodding. i've installed wolff springs systems and better grips and now i'm looking for better sights. millett seems to be the best. i like them because of the white outline and the ability to change height because my gun shoots high. i have tried to get help from both them and midway usa on which model to order, but nobody is any help...no answers. i think i have found the answer but would like a little reassurance. the pre '74 system looks to me like it'll fit because you have to drill the front screw yourself to fit, but my gun was manufactured in 83. does anyone know if s&w made any changes to the length of the sight rail, or if this is even plausible. any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum
The main changes is that Smith went to a rounded end of the front sight rail. I dont believe there was a change in the spacing of the holes or the width of the rail. It would be an easy fit for a good gunsmith.

The blade in the S&W sight may be changed to any different sight height, which would correct your elevation problems. A call t S&W with specifics of your problem would probably get you what height you need. The blade kit is less than ten bucks, but do yourself a favor and order a windage detent plunger and spring, as you may lose them when you remove the old blade. Less than a couple bucks. If you do change blades, be sure to remove old one in a large clear plastic bag or under a towel to capture the flying parts.
