Hi All, I could most definitely use some help with these two S&W's acquired today. They are both in just about perfect, 100% condition. If someone can identify these for me and maybe give me an idea on their birthdates and possible value I would greatly appreciate it. I'm usually in the Lounge or 1945-Present sections, but I love older Smiths just like the next guy.
This first one I belive is a M&P 1905, I'm thinkin' maybe 4th change. 6" barrel and a serial number of 813328. It's a five screw Model. Here's the pictures of this one:

This next one has me stumped. 4" barrel, 5-shot in 38 S&W caliber. Barrel marked "Regulation Police". Also a 5 screw, the serial number is 29234. Is this an I-Frame or a J-Frame ??? Here's this little guy:

Thanks in advance for any light you can shine on these for me. I have never personally seen older S&W's in this kind of shape. Kinda like taking a trip back in time. Take care, Shoo

Beautiful guns! The bottom is an I Frame; I have one simular. I'm sure others here will answer all your questions very soon.

very nice guns Randy. You know what to do when you tire of them...

Thanks for the offer arfmel, but don't you already own enough of my old guns ??? I think you already know how much I miss that Model 25.
Hi Mike Priwer, Thanks for the info. Let's just say the guy wanted $300-$400 for both of them !!! But, alas, couldn't buy his Grandpa's old S&W's for that. Paid $800 for both. Thinks me made out okay, Shoo

Shoo, You certainly showed up in the pre-'45 section with style! Very nice catch...2 real beauties. I hope we'll see more. Regards, Jerry

If you paid $800 for both, thats about $400 for each. I think that is all
they are worth, but they are worth that much. They are both very nice.

I was guessing, to myself, that the K-frame is about $350, roughly. The
I-frame maybe $400, but these are only rough guesses. The thing about both
of these is that the factory made a lot of them, so scarcity is not one of
their attributes. They have the condition, and that helps set their value.

You might want to get letters on them, although I would guess, and its just
a guess, that they were shipped to some store. Someone bought them, and
forgot about them !

Later, Mike Priwer

Shoo:

Both are very nice pieces. You were smart to grab them when you could.

Is the 6" a .38 Special or .38 S&W? Does it have a lanyard ring?

Shooboy,

Nice guns. Sometimes the best deal is just getting the opportunity to buy a clean pre-war. Around here, that would be a good price.

With that lanyard hole and SN the top gun might be a K-200 or British Service Pistol as they were called. A sort of proto-commercial pre-victory we sent over there in the very early 40's.

Thanks again for the nice comments guys. I did forget to mention that the K-Frame is in .38 Special, not .38 S&W. And yes, it does have a hole in the butt !!! Shoo
