I am both new to forums and gun ownership, but I have some questions. I plan on purchasing my 15/22 this coming week. i am looking to find the iron sights that are placed on an angle from the actual stock sights. i saw them listed somewhere in these forums, but i can't find the thread again to get the name. if someone could help with either the thread or the name i would greatly appreciate it. thanks in advance.

Not sure where they are on this forum, but you are probably thinking of the 45 degree offset rails.

Machine 45 Degree Offset Picatinny Rail 2-1/8 Aluminum Matte

I have seen guys at matches running a 4x scope with Iron or Red Dot sights at the 45 degree. Seemed to work pretty good for them.

that would work, basic idea is correct, but the one i was looking for was the ones that had the integrated iron sights on them. will definately look into these as well tho. that you for the help.

those were exactly what i was looking for. thanks!

i'm not going to spend $200 on sights (wife is already upset i'm buying the gun) but i at least have options open that might put her at ease. lol

I need something like that for my pistol:rolleyes:

If you're new to firearms ownership, you might want to spend a little time learning to shoot the rifle properly before tacking on questionably useful knick-knacks.
Just trying to save you some money.

I agree with CrazyFingers.

Learn the fundamentals FIRST, and that includes using the iron sights that come on the rifle, trigger control, shooting stance, etc. After a few thousand rounds down range, then start worrying about all the tacticool looking stuff. The 15-22 works just fine as it comes from Smith & Wesson.

you guys are right, as i feel i am a little rusty when it comes to shooting. (its been about 9 yrs) and the last thing i shot was a .30-06. the plus side is that my wife now wants to go shooting as well. oh and thanks for the advice guys, it really is refreshing to be on a forum where there is no "holier than thou" attitudes (that i've seen anyway)
