Help please

As a first time gun owner I decided to attempt to disassemble and reassemble my m&p 9 shield ez 2.0. Everything went to plan until the reassemble where I'm sure I put the recoil spring in possibly backwards or crooked. I need help on this please and thank you.

Use more force than usual. It will eventually slide off. You can try to tap the slide from the back.

I think you merely didn't seat the head of the spring guide into the proper little step notch under the chamber. When properly seated, the spring assembly should run parallel to the slide rails when viewed from the side.
