"S" would be blued and the Model 29 would have a well polished, blued finish. The factory optional finish was a well polished, nickel plate finish. Factory nickel plated Model 29's were identified with an "N" stamped into the back of the cylinder and onto the left side of the grip frame, near the bottom edge.

I had to look that one up. I'm still looking.

Just found it. Derived from the Latin word for PITA.

Stunad" is an Italian slang term that means "a stupid person". It is an Italian American slang word that some say sounds better than calling someone stupid in English.:D:D;)

Calling your self Stunad is likened to sayin " What an idiot I am/was"
I should have known better !!:D:D

Finish B. If the letter B was in the box label space "finish" then the finish was bright (B)lue.

The proper word in Italian is stunatto, which means stupid. A related construction is stonato, which means "out of tune", and can colloquially refer to a person who is "not right in the head". A another word is stupido, which directly translates to "stupid person" and is often used as the correct noun and has masculine and feminine genders.

"Stunad" is a corruption of these words, and not proper Italian.

Like many Italian words, the pronunciation is sometimes truncated or corrupted when dealing with insular regional dialects, such as Sicilian. As many immigrants to America from southern Italy had poor language skills in their native country, the improper grammar, spelling and pronunciation carried over through subsequent generations of US-born descendants.

This can be most commonly heard in the mispronunciation of various Italian meats and cheeses which are popular in the United States.

I'm assuming the OP mixed up his photos. The Python (shown) is not a .44 Magnum, doesn't have an 8-3/8 inch barrel, and I'll bet its serial number isn't BNF8349.

That's a Model 29 that someone ruined with WD-40...
No, not ruined by WD-40. That's a Model 29 that was put into the washing machine with soap and bleach, which removed the blue and left it white, then put into the dryer on high-heat, which shrunk it from 44 Magnum down to 357 Magnum. :D
