Not much to go on here, but I remember seeing an old advertisement that talked about controlling feral cats that prey on birds and small mammals. I THINK it was Federal Cartridge Co ad, and I think there was a drawing of a bunch of cats terrorizing birds and maybe a guy aiming a .22 at them. They obviously recommended their ammo for the job.

I'm trying to find the old ad so I can mess with someone. I looked in some old Gun Digests and American Rifleman and no luck yet. Any ideas??

While you're at it, have you seen my glasses?

While looking for vintage ads, I found this one you might save for future mileage:

Years ago I and my dad found a old fell in log cabin. We found newspapers with poncho villa in the headlines, I found a nice indian motorcycle catalog. But dad found a rare savage rifle ad. It showed a savage rifle, a indian chief in the background, and the ad said "Injun medicine". No shist!

Right about the time the Surgeon General's report came out in the early '60s, Mad Magazine did a great ad for "Marble Row" cigarettes, with the cartoon depicting a row of marble tombstones. Someone can prolly find it and scan it in.

Geez, Chad; this really got off-topic, didn't it?

I know exactly the cartoon you're thinking of and could have sworn I saw it in Gun Digest several years ago. I do, however, know which cartoonist drew it: "Ding" Darling, the great editorial cartoonist and conservationist. I did a quick Google search but couldn't find the specific cartoon. (But there were some pretty good ones criticizing FDR's spending and other topics that are still remarkably relevant.)

Barb, do you have any idea how old the ads are? I'm 65 and all I remember are the red and white packs. Have never seen packs like that before.

Don

Must be an ad prior to WWII. The Marlboro wasn't sold for several years until they came back as a filter tip in the red/white package in the mid 50's.

I always go to gun shows looking for old mags that have some great ads in them, the best I take out and frame, the rest are in a 3 ring binder.
