In search of Alliant 2400 , which has been ongoing for many yrs I have switched to either Ramshot Enforcer which is also Accurate Arms 4100 . I found them to be very accurate , clean and not position sensitive and " Available " . They are just on the slow side of 2400 , but faster than H110 . I have recently started using Accurate #9 in my 357 magnum loads and it is great . It seems to enjoy a lower recoil factor . I'm not recoil sensitive but it does make the lag time to the next shot quicker .
For mid range loads I switched to Winchester Super Field , in place of unique and have never looked back . Load data is a little thin so I always start with the load data for Unique . It is just a bit slower on most burn rate charts than unique .
There are those that will tell you that the unburnt residue / granules of IMR 4227 is just unburnt filler . I have no actual fact , but it possibly could be . I have used it for years with great satisfaction . I am a winchester primer user ,exclusivly ---except with 4227 . There I use a CCI full magnum primer for a more complete burn . YMMV
BTW : I contacted Alliant and asked if they had quit making 2400 ? They said " No " . As I now have other powder that work just as well and are available it is not a concern to find 2400 anymore .
