Help with 41 mag

I've found that 4227 to be very similar to 2400 in loadings and results. Both will leave unburnt particles in less than maximum loads. This is with various commercial 210 gr SWC bullets and either standard or magnum primers .
Ignore the Lyman accuracy load notes. My 8 3/8" M57 gives best results with near max loads of Unique. Yours may be different.

In search of Alliant 2400 , which has been ongoing for many yrs I have switched to either Ramshot Enforcer which is also Accurate Arms 4100 . I found them to be very accurate , clean and not position sensitive and " Available " . They are just on the slow side of 2400 , but faster than H110 . I have recently started using Accurate #9 in my 357 magnum loads and it is great . It seems to enjoy a lower recoil factor . I'm not recoil sensitive but it does make the lag time to the next shot quicker .
For mid range loads I switched to Winchester Super Field , in place of unique and have never looked back . Load data is a little thin so I always start with the load data for Unique . It is just a bit slower on most burn rate charts than unique .
There are those that will tell you that the unburnt residue / granules of IMR 4227 is just unburnt filler . I have no actual fact , but it possibly could be . I have used it for years with great satisfaction . I am a winchester primer user ,exclusivly ---except with 4227 . There I use a CCI full magnum primer for a more complete burn . YMMV
BTW : I contacted Alliant and asked if they had quit making 2400 ? They said " No " . As I now have other powder that work just as well and are available it is not a concern to find 2400 anymore .

I've never been much for reduced loads in magnum handguns but H110/W296 is my powder of choice in full power hunting loads for .41 & .44 magnums and a very close second in the .357 magnum.

For years,I've suscribed to that. But now that I'm pushing towards being an old coot,I enjoy a shooting session of 50 .44 or .41 full Mag loads and then complete my shooting session with 100 to 150 reduced 215gr .44''semi-Mag'' sent downrange at 1250 FPS.Of course,I'm always open to discuss different opinions.

I am starting to really enjoy Accurate #9 . It delivers almost the velocity of H110/W296 yet seems lighter on recoil , IMO . In the 357 w/a 158-160 gr cast bullet I really enjoy 13gr .
I will shoot some reduced loads in my magnums but always have to finish up the day with a few " barn burners " . That's makes my day fun .
