Help with a 44 Magnum load

10.0 grs of Unique will make a fine load that still has a bit of kick to it. That is what I use today. IMR4227 will make a good long range load. I heard this bullet was designed for the metal animal shooters. They shoot out to 200 meters and need an accurate bullet.

I have used this bullet in a 44 Special with 6.5 grs Unique. Very accurate and gave 820 fps from a 5.5 inch barrel. One ragged hole at 50 ft.

44 Magnum Availability

44 Mag revolvers can be found in blue, stainless (from 3" to 10-5/8" barrels) and at reasonable prices compared to 44 spl revolvers. In 25 years of scrounging range pickup brass, I have seen less than 50 pieces of 44 special brass while accumulating 1,500 pieces of 44 mag brass. :)

In my younger body days, I shot real 44 mag loads that were robust and fun to shoot. Now with arthritis, shakes, cataracts, mid-range loads are just fine. :D

Funny reading all the old poofters who buy a "he-man" 44mag and then load as 44wussy. Why not buy a good 1911 instead? Or a 357? Well I know why you don't - its because 44 mag sounds so much more macho.

No it's because the 44mag is so versatile. Load it up or down, 45 cant do that. I venture I have fired more full house 44mags down range than avg ten 44mag owners combined. So I have learned you don't have to run full speed all the time to enjoy the 44mag. Contact o 200yds +, it just gets it one. If I could only have one handgun, m29-4". Since I have two, I am in good shape.

That's kinda nasty talk for a dude who has to use rubber grips on a 329.

Who says we don't have 1911s, 357s, etc.?

In my opinion, a model 29 with full power loads is more comfortable to fire than a model 19.

If a big loud boom and hard recoil makes your willie seem bigger, then by all means, have at it.
