Help with a trade : Model 15 for a 686-5 .

I think it's a matter of perspective. Possibly, the OP doesn't look at blued K-frame the way alot of us do. Maybe a 686 is more appropriate for what he wants his revolver for. On the flip side, maybe the guy he's trading it to is someone who looks at them in that way, and will baby it and give it a good home.

It's easy to forget that some folks have guns as tools, while to others it's a hobby, passion, obsession, etc...

All that being said, I'd keep the 15. I'm one of those guys.

As another data point, I own a 15-3 and 4" 686ND; both in excellent condition. If I had to give up one or the other it would be the 686 without hesitation. The 15-3 with TT and TH and a 6" model 14-3 also with TH & TT are true favorites, on the range and to admire when handling.

I would not make that trade unless you had room for just one revolver in your life and it was for home defense.

Keep that 15 ! Those aren't made anymore, the 686's are on GS tables all the time, I finally found a 4" #15 about 3 weeks ago, have looked for several years before finding one 95%, don't trade!!

Oooooooo Kaaaayyyyy.....

I agree that my 15-2 is an especially sweet shooter and I certainly like it and shoot it a lot.

buuuuut, A 4" 686 is worth $500 all day long. And the 15's go for about three-and-a-quarter to, maybe, four hundred beans.

At the LGS, shows, etc I rarely see either with the 15's being rarer (I've seen two in the last year around here - including the one I bought) than the 686's (less than half a dozen in the last year including the local Cabela's 'gun library').

That said, knowing what I do now, I agree with all the other posters = keep the 15.

But if the OP really WANTS that 686, then it, technically, is a square deal for him.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!
