Hello from Maine!
A few years ago, I bought a S&W Model 66-2 (6") @ a local gun show. I'm interested in learning a bit of it's history, manufacture date, etc. Any info would be much appreciated. See attached pics.

Nice revolver, in very nice condition. Enjoy it!!

The 66-2 began to appear around 1982. The serial number (on the underside of the grip) will be necessary to further pinpoint the approximate year of manufacture.

The "AEC..." in one of the pics is the serial number. You are correct on dating around 82 or later, I think I have one with a serial prefix about the same.

This pic is from the underside of the grip. Thank you.

A 66-2 is a good one, I love mine but my youngest daughter has already claimed it. I will add that the stocks you have on there are not the original, they kind of look like they might be Altamont. Original would have been Goncalo Alves Target, and possibly with speedloader cutout.

Grips are Hogue monogrips and the wood is Pau Ferro. OP, is the right side the same cut-out shape or is it the older high shoulder style?
