I got this model 60 and it only functions in double action. I'm surprised by this because it has a spur hammer.

I took the side plate off and it looks like the top dog of the trigger is too long to drop under the hammer sear. Or maybe the hammer sear has the wrong geometry to allow the trigger to fall under it?

Is it a cob job? could I remove some material from the trigger or hammer to get it to set into single action?

I asked this on another forum but need some expert advice here.

What I don't know is how double action only pistols are accomplished. Maybe this Is factory? But it still has a spur, so maybe not factory? My goal is to enable, or restore, DA/SA function.

Looks to me that material is missing from the interface between the hammer and trigger when it would be cocked in single action, possibly from the hammer.

Could be? This is what I imagine the hammer should look like. To me it looks too wide at the interface between the trigger and hammer, without clearance to drop the trigger under the hammer. I don't have a DAO pistol to compare to.

The trigger doesn't drop into a notch on the bottom of the hammer. There is a notch on the vertical front face of the hammer. The notch has apparently been ground off. You need a new hammer.

The current hammer is going back far enough that it would normally cock in single action. The notch in the hammer would be just above where the trigger contacts it.

Thank you! With that very helpful observation I was able to fix it by cleaning up the step with a file. It looked glossy like it was rolled over but I didn't know it was supposed to rest there. Maybe the gun was dropped while cocked and rolled the edge over.

Working again.
